Claude Makelele signs one year extension at PSG

Reigning Dutch champions FC Twente have completed the signing of Swedish defender Rasmus Bengtsson. The centre back, who turned 24 a fortnight ago, moves to Twente from recently relegated Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin, and has signed a three year contract with an option for an extra year.

Bengtsson becomes the second Swedish player to be signed by Twente this summer. The Tukkers had earlier swooped for Elfsborg s young forward Emir Bajrami.

Bengtsson, a product of Malmo s youth system, started his career with Trelleborg. He joined Hertha on a three year deal last summer.

Bengtsson was part of the Swedish U-21 team that reached the semifinals of the 2009 UEFA Euro U-21 Championships. He has also been capped once at senior level for Sweden.

Romelu Lukaku came back to haunt West Brom as he inspired a stunning second-half comeback from Everton in a 3-2 Premier League win at The Hawthorns on Monday.

Roberto Martinez s side appeared to be heading for defeat after seeing West Brom take a 2-0 lead early in the second half through Craig Dawson s header.

Striker Saido Berahino had broken the deadlock in the 41st minute with his second goal in three games since ending his exile from the West Brom team after failing to force a move to Tottenham.

West Brom s advantage was doubled nine minutes after the restart courtesy of Dawson, and that looked to have put them on the verge of a third win in four Premier League matches.

Bayern Munich have the chance to exact revenge for their Bundesliga loss to Hertha Berlin after the clubs were drawn together in the last 16 of the DFB-Pokal.

Hertha beat Bayern 2-0 at the Olympiastadion in September and will hope for a repeat when they entertain the Bundesliga champions in the Pokal in February.

That defeat was Bayern s first under Niko Kovac and came amid a four-match winless streak that exposed the new head coach to early pressure.

Bayern have since compiled a five-game unbeaten run in all competitions, including a 2-1 win over fourth-tier Rodinghausen in the previous round of the Pokal, and will be eager to advance in their bid to reclaim the trophy they last won in 2016.

Luciano Spalletti has challenged his players to prove they are crazy about Inter by winning the Milan derby at San Siro on Sunday.

Inter are four points ahead of AC Milan and have not lost any of their previous four Serie A meetings with their city rivals, though last October s 3-2 victory remains their only win in that time.

Spalletti, who took charge in 2017, acknowledged that a derby game is like no other and had no intention of playing it down, calling on his players to show just how much playing for the club means to them.

Former Germany coach Jurgen Klinsmann will join Major League Soccer (MLS) side FC Toronto as an advisor, the Canadian club announced on Wednesday.

It s an honour for us to work with an icon like Jurgen Klinsmann, said Toronto vice-president Tom Anselmi, whose club finished in 11th place overall in the 2010 MLS season.

Klinsmann, 46, lives in the United States with his family and has been out of work since he was sacked by Bayern Munich in April 2009, after only nine months in charge.
